Science Behind the App
Before building the app, we researched rodent hearing and effective repellent sounds:
- Rodent hearing range: Rats 1,000–90,000 Hz; mice 1,000–100,000 Hz (far beyond human 20–20,000 Hz)
- Effective sounds: Predator calls (cat, dog, owl, snake), 20–21.5 kHz ultrasonic, distress calls
- Rotation matters: Rodents adapt to repeated sounds—varying sound types improves effectiveness
